Why I Hate After Effects
Okay, no, I don’t HATE After Effects, I just learned really quick that it’s all fun and games until someone thinks it’s a good idea to make a movie about a haunted mirror and you suddenly realize you have way more work on your hands than you thought you would.
The project was simple. All we had to do was take everything we learned in our compositing class and create something showing what we learned. We didn’t even have to create a proper story to go with it, just make some clips using the special effects techniques we learned.
Unfortunately, my partner and I were a little too ambitious. No simple clips for us! We wanted a full-on suspense-filled film-noir masterpiece!
And the moral of the story is, be ambitious about learning the best way to accomplish your ambitions, or else you’ll spend many sleepless nights in the computer lab rotoscoping every individual frame and never fully achieving the effect you want.
But whatever, I still love it. (I also love that my home-made ceramic bowls are in it. I forgot about those.)
