Happy Accidents

A close up of a woman's face, half illuminated by red light, the other half covered in blue sparkles.

I love this video. I love it more than the video it was supposed to be.

Our class participated in a project, shot entirely on 35mm film, where we each picked a person and asked them three questions:

  1. What makes you happy?

  2. What regrets do you have in life?

  3. What do you want to leave behind in this world?

Each student was to interview and film their subject, edit their interview, and then we would combine everyone’s interviews into one long documentary.

One student misunderstood. She took everyone’s footage and mashed it all up together and set it to music. She was a bit discouraged when she realized her mistake, but I really quickly jumped in and asked if I could use it. I took everyone’s recorded interviews and added them to video.

Eventually, we finished the original film. But I still think this one is the better video.
